Our Story

THE ORIGINAL LEATHER SUNGLASS STRAP®

Inspiration struck our founder Chris on a trip to Nantucket for the annual Figawi sailing race weekend. From the journey out at sea, to juggling sunglasses and beverages as the grey lady rolled on and off the island, the convenience of a good retainer was apparent. Fate wouldn’t be so simple however, as Chris found himself desiring something a bit different. A sunglass strap of equal parts functionality and style. A rugged and refined alternative to the frayed and frail neoprene and cotton varieties available at the time.

Back on the mainland his journey began. He had a leather belt, leather boat shoes, and a leather watch band. Why not a leather sunglass strap? Over countless nights and weekends spent in the leather shop the world’s first leather sunglass strap was born. Originally made for friends and family and years later first stocked by Murray's Toggery Shop, a Nantucket institution. Affectionately know as “Sounders”, a symbol of sport and leisure for those who are ready for adventure.
