The history of Sounder Goods, creators of The Original Leather Sunglass Strap®
Inspiration struck our founder Chris on a trip to Nantucket for the Figawi sailing weekend. While juggling sunglasses and beverages as the grey lady rolled on and off the island, the convenience of a good retainer became apparent. Fate wouldn’t be so simple, however, as he found himself desiring something a bit different. A sunglass strap of equal parts functionality and style. A rugged, refined alternative to the varieties available.
Back on the mainland his journey began. Over many late nights and weekends and over a year in the leather shop he developed the world’s first leather sunglass strap was born. Originally made for friends and family and soon after stocked by speciality retailers in the U.S., Germany, Norway and Japan. Over 10 years and many iterations later, our signature brass riveted connectors and full grain leather design holds 2 utility patents. Affectionately know as “Sounders”, a symbol of sport and leisure for those who welcome adventure.
